    Description

    This artifact is a pre historic graph stone. There is was found in the entrance to the Rose valley in Ojai, Ca. This is a petrograph of an animal paw on brown sandstone using a hematite as the “paint” for the paw. It is very old. Hematite is the soft stone active American in this area used for painting petrographs, symbols,  there are many colors of hematite yellow, brown, white,purple,red, ect. You can google how the Chumash in this area used hematite for this use.  Anyways cool little artifact. Thanks for looking. Stone weighs about 8-10 lbs.  it is a very solid stone. . Thanks for looking.
