    Description

    Japanese Sword Wakizashi.
    Signed:
    Harima Daijo Fujiwara, rest of  mie has been cut off when sword was shortened.
    Wakizashi in full mount.
    In very good polish. I would say this is an older polish but still looking very nice.
    Without any nicks, cracks or rust but has very small chip. (pic 24)
    Has one Kizu (flaw) Blade has one chip approx. 5/16 inch long and 1/16 deep. This is not a fatal flaw and can be corrected by an experienced polisher. This is NOT a fatal flaw. (Picture 24)
    This blade is WITHOUT any fatal flaws.
    Yaki-Ba (Tempered Line): Swell (Notare)
    Nioi and Nie: Very nice mist or white smoke color due to the tempering process, just along the tempered line.
    total length: 24 3/4 inches.
    Nagasa (blade length): 18 5/8 inches.
    Sori (curvature): 5/16 inches.
    Moto-haba (width at the bottom by back notch): 1 1/16 inch.
    Kasana: (thickness) 1/4 inches
    Nakago: (tang) has very old black rust with two punch holes. Tang hasn't been cleaned and the rust is a very deep rust.
    Mei (Inscription) - Harima Daijo Fujiwara , rest of  mie has been cut off when sword was shortened.
    Grooves(: Wide grove (bo-hi) on one side that stops short of the yokota
    Two narrow groves (futasugi-hi) on one side that stops short of the yokota.
    File marks: horizontal file marks all the way across the tang with leftward slanting file marks closer to the habaki on the upper half of the tang.
    Kissaki (Point)The tip is in great condition without any damage. The cutting edge of the point is without damage.
    The edge of the blade is straight and hasn't been sharpened. Has the small chip. I address prior. (Picture-1)
    Scabbard- Set up for single Kozuka (side Knife) knife is missing. Has some damage to the scabbard where the side knife goes in. (picture 1, 2 and 7) Scabbard also has some of the enamel missing.
    Habaki: is very beautiful, nice shape, silver foil Habaki
    Tsuba: is very nice looking dragon with lots of detail, retains some of the gilding. Very nice dragon. Very old patina.
    Handle: wrap, very tight with wear on the wrap above the manuki on one side. (See pic 23) Beautiful ray skin under the wrap. Everything is very tight to the blade when assembled.
    Menuki: Dragons that match with the tsuba, kashira and fuchi. (Very nice matching set of dragons)
    Kashira and Fuchi: Very beautiful matching set with dragons. All furniture with matching dragons.
    Seppa: two seppa, both in good shape.
    This is an early EDO period sword.
