Japanese Sword Wakizashi Tanto Naginata Naoshi Koto Mumei New Polish Shirasaya

Description

This is a beautiful Koto period tanto / wakizashi in Naginata Naoshi shape.  This sword  was polished in 2021 by Mr. Rinzo Negishi in the tradition sashikomi polish.  Mr. Negishi also made the shirasaya which is a beautiful dark and hard honoki with flames.  This sword is mumei and is o-suriage.  A new silver habaki was made for this sword.
In looking at the nakago you will see that one side is filed down while the other side retains the original rust.  The top and bottom edge of the nakago was also filed down.  This was done to reshape the nakago to a proper shape in order to accommodate the new habaki and shirasaya.  This was done in the proper way to retain both the functionality of the sword and it age.
There is no hamon turn back at the tip.  The hamon is very bright and active on most of the blade body but is getting dull near the tip.  I have included many pictures to show the condition of the blade as best i can.  The sword comes with a new sword bag.
