Description
Antique Japanese Samurai Wakizashi katana sword signed: Bisyu Mihara ju MasahisaHere's beautiful sword in very, very nice polish!
Blade length: 21.5/8 inches
Overall length: 27 5/8 inches
Curvature (Sori): 5/8 inch
Blade is gorgeous! No nicks, no cracks, no rust, no pitting, has one Kitae ware mark about 4 inches from tip (picture 6)
Cutting edge is straight, without any damage and without sharpening. No nicks or damage to the cutting edge.
Tip: LONG, CURVED TIP! without any damage. Has very nice tiger tail boshi on one side and short turn back on the other.
Temper line on tip: Has the tiger tail boshi, temper line-very nice! You won't have to get this one polished!
Dividing line or (YOKOTE) Smith didn't put one on this blade.
Groves: blade has one short groves down each side. Wide grove with round end.
Temper line of blade: Is a VERY nice Swell pattern on both sides towards the front. On one side, near the notch, there is two Mokume pushes "eyes" On the other side, near the the notch, there are several ears.
Nioi and Nie line: a beautiful white color on the blade next to the temper line.
Tang is a very dark black color and has not been messed with. Tang with two punch holes. One hole has been plugged.
Habaki: Very nice, with gold foil Habaki.
Shira saya: In very nice shape, no cracks or damage.
File pattern: Horizontal all the way down the tang.
Tang shape: square shape, most likely due to the blade being shortened.
This sword is from Sengoku Jidai period, During the Azuchi Momoyama Period about 1570
